OOO by Netflix has become a regular fixture in the South African entertainment calendar and this year was not a disappointment.
The OOO media lunch has a bit of a twist this year where Netflix showcase 2 of their upcoming productions, Love & wine as well as The Lobola!
Love & Wine centres around a young man working at his wealthy father’s business, who traps himself in a lie when he falls in love with hard working medical student. The show stars Ntobeko Sishi, Thando Thabethe and Masali Baduza to name a few.
Then How to Ruin Love: The Lobola is based on a young couple who’s families prepare for the ultimate union union, tradition, pride and secretes threaten to derail everything. Lobola stars Sivenathi Mabuya, Zola Nombona as well as Thando Thabethe to name a few.
The above shows are bound to keep viewers entertained this festive season and the cast showed up and showed off. For this event, the stars were asked to style themselves and they all showed up in their favourite South African designer brands.
Our top 3 looks that stood out for us were:
Ntobeko Sishi’s Look
This outfit is a striking blend of grunge, practicality and modern streetwear, pulled together with confidence and intention. The pants are the star of the look—heavy patchwork detailing, frayed seams, and washed tones create a visually complex streetwear piece
Zola Nombona – Thebe Magugu Dress
This piece is a statement making fusion of high–concept storytelling and bold colour theory. Zola stated that she chose this dress because it’s a perfect “rich auntie lobola dress”. The dress features a striking illustrative portrait motif on the front something very much in the spirit of Thebe Magugu‘s practice of embedding cultural narratives into wearable art.
Masali – BAM Collective Dress
This dress is a beautiful example of modern femininity with playful elegance, which aligns well with BAM Collective’s reputation for bold, contemporary African design.
The soft pink hue is vibrant yet refined, perfect for outdoor events or daytime socials. The fabric is structured enough to hold shape while still offering comfort, giving the dress a polished, tailored feel.
Thando Thabethe – Zola Nombona Dress
The dress is stylish, bold, and perfect for a chic outdoor media event. It strikes a balance between polished elegance and playful texture, giving it real presence without feeling overly formal.
The star of this look is the bottom of the dress! It features long, textured, shredded fabric panels, creating movement and visual interest. The slit adds a touch of sophistication and elongates the silhouette.
With standout fashion moments, heartfelt cast interactions, and exciting new series on the horizon, this year’s OOO by Netflix media lunch served as both a celebration of African storytelling and a reminder of the industry’s growing global presence. As Netflix continues to invest in local talent and authentic narratives, viewers can look forward to a festive season filled with compelling stories.
